Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty which mainly affects the development of literacy and language related skills. It is characterised by difficulties with phonological processing, rapid naming, working memory, processing speed, and the automatic development of literacy skills that may not match up to a child’s other abilities.
Dyslexia makes it tough to read and spell but dyslexia doesn't have to hold a child back. Plenty of smart and talented people struggle with dyslexia. With some help and a lot of hard work, a child who has dyslexia can learn to read and spell. While there isn’t any ‘cure’ for dyslexia and it tends to be resistant to conventional teaching methods, children can learn strategies and tactics to help them minimize its affect on their lives.
